Position Overview  

We’re searching for a Software Engineer for Applied’s Personal Lines Insurance Team.

To keep us headed in the right direction, we’re looking for people who understand winning is a team sport, who value and seek to learn from our team’s diverse experiences and backgrounds, who welcome a challenge and take risks in the pursuit of creating better outcomes for our customers, and who can, at any given time, step back to laugh and have some fun.  

Operating in an Agile environment, you will help design, maintain, and test a web-based solution by utilizing an extensive tech stack, including Apigee, React, Golang, and PostgreSQL, along with JIRA, GitLab, Cypress and RestSharp. This opportunity has a strong focus on testing methodologies and modern test automation implementation.

What You’ll Do  

As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to high-quality solutions for customers

• Design, develop, and maintain solutions using Golang, React, PostgreSQL, Apigee.
• Work with the team to design and implement software, emphasizing design principles, patterns, and best practices.
• Review code written by peers, focusing on readability and efficiency.
• Proficient in utilizing AI-powered tools like GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT for coding tasks.
• Skilled in leveraging AI tools to analyze problems and recommend effective solutions
• Continuously learn about new tools and technologies

We’re Excited to Learn More About You  

The Software Engineer position requires:

• 3+ years of experience in software engineering
• Minimum 1+ years of experience in software development languages Golang, React or Angular.
• Experience with microservice architecture, cloud computing and related technologies such as GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, Apigee, Terraform, Helm, Istio, Envoy, and Datadog.
• Experience with building components and web applications in React
• Write unit tests using Cypress
• Experience with GitLab and continuous integration best practices
• Experience or training in REST web service development.
• Strong understanding of the web development lifecycle and programming techniques and tools.
• PostgreSQL database programming experience
• Understanding of SOLID principles, and design patterns
• Experience in security and performance testing
• Experience or training with Agile Scrum methodology.
• Genuine passion for programming.  You are driven by principles-based approaches to design, implementation, and testing.
