Senior Systems Engineer

Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Corporate IT team. This role will be responsible for building out and maintaining our future computing environments both in the cloud and in on premise data centers.  The role will have a heavy focus on automation and Infrastructure as Code.  Enjoy working in a fast paced, high energy, growing environment, working highly collaboratively and driving business results? Essential Functions

·       Design and build cloud and on-premises infrastructure

• Build, configure, deploy new software packages
• Create and maintain infrastructure documentation

·       Develop playbooks to guide all skill levels for incident response

·       Deploy on-premises and cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code

·       Perform RCA as part of incident response

• Install, upgrade and management of VMware
• Develop and implement monitoring technologies such as Datadog to ensure optimal uptime metrics and ease troubleshooting of production issues.
• Manage and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) in GCP, AWS, and Azure using IaaS models.
• Respond to escalated infrastructure service desk tickets

·       Perform upgrades and other maintenance during non-business hours

·       Function as part of an on-call rotation for out of hours incidents (typically one week every two months)

·       Define and implement best practices for disaster recovery

·       Work closely with the information security organization to remediate any identified security vulnerabilities

·       Performs other duties as assigned by immediate manager or management team.

Required Skills & Experience

·       High School diploma (required), BA or BS degree preferred

·       7+ years of experience as a senior engineer in a mid to large scale enterprise

·       Strong organization skills and the ability to multitask

·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills
