Job Description

Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is seeking a collaborative, analytical, and detail-oriented Compensation Analyst to join our Compensation team. The Compensation Analyst is a key contributor to Applied’s talent management strategy as the organization builds, aligns, and scales a proactive and strategic HR function to meet the ongoing needs of the business.  Our People team is comprised of People Business Partners, Shared Services, and Centers of Excellence designed to support a global, industry-leading technology insurance company.

 

This is an exciting time to join our compensation team as we pursue a multi-year strategic roadmap of high-impact, employee-centric initiatives. As a Compensation Analyst, you will be responsible for analyzing salary data, conducting market research, and preparing reports to ensure compensation plans are competitive and aligned with the company's business goals. You will work closely with the Compensation team and People Business Partners to execute cyclical projects and implement processes that enhance our compensation capabilities.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Support the implementation of, and ongoing maintenance, of our global job architecture
  • Facilitate the creation and maintenance of job content using JDXpert
  • Participate in third-party compensation surveys, maintain job matches, and prepare market analysis for base pay programs
  • Administer the annual merit and bonus planning process, including system configuration and testing, manager and People Business Partner support, reporting, and payment processing
  • Support the selection and implementation of an employee recognition platform
  • Prepare routine and ad hoc position or incumbent compensation analysis, compensation reports, program metrics, and regulatory reports
  • Create and maintain compensation program documentation such as plan descriptions, policies, guidelines, trainings, and processes

 

What You’ll Need to Succeed

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Can work on a hybrid basis from our Chicago office (dependent on business specific needs)

Your experience should include some or all of the following:

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience as a Compensation Analyst or similar role
  • Working knowledge of base and variable pay practices and techniques and the laws and regulations affecting compensation and recognition programs
  • Practical experience with compensation software applications such as BetterComp (market pricing), JDXpert (job descriptions), and HRSoft (compensation planning)
  • Solid analytical skills: ability to collect and analyze data using basic and intermediate analysis techniques in Microsoft Excel (sort/filter, vlookups, index/match, pivot tables, etc.)
  • Solid customer service orientation and service delivery skills; sets expectations, meets commitments, resolves issues quickly, demonstrates understanding and compassion towards others.
  • Proficient computer skills, including HR Information Systems (UKG preferred but not required) and Microsoft Office Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the job responsibilities

  • Some coursework toward the Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation
