Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is searching for a Sr. Staff Software Engineer to join our Enterprise Architecture Team to help build innovative cloud-based solutions for the business of insurance. This is a research & development heavy role, and the Sr. Staff Software Engineer will be deployed to a variety of high-complexity projects which they will own and bring to completion.

What You’ll Do

• Research and develop innovative solutions for the business of insurance
• Accelerate decision making as a trusted expert and partner with senior leaders to influence decisions about the technical direction based on our business strategy
• Establish best practices and/or enhance standards at scale, with consideration for current practices and plans for technical transformation
• Mentor software engineering teams on technical approaches and problem solving
• Provide guidance in a scalable way to support teams across the organization with systemic issues
• Solve technical problems of the highest scope, complexity, and ambiguity to ensure resolution and alignment on long-term solutions
• Identify what works best and what will not work across domains, identifying patterns and anti-patterns even in new areas
• Proactively identify opportunities to reuse or generalize existing services and product features to avoid duplication of effort and facilitate collaboration
• Share expertise with internal and external stakeholders

What You’ll Need to Succeed

We’re looking for someone who:

• Can work remotely or from an Applied office

Your experience should include some or all of the following:

• 10+ years of experience creating enterprise software
• 10+ years of software development experience, including software design
• Experience with modern web technologies and cloud technologies
• Demonstrated ability to accelerate technical transformation
• Ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong people and mentoring skills
• Practical experience working with

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
