    Job Summary
    Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for an Associate Level Scrum Master.  The Scrum Master provides effective collaboration, facilitation, leadership, and coaching skills by supporting the teams through an Agile development process toward achieving their objectives. The Scrum Master position is highly responsible and accountable, and will challenge the teams to both, adopt and improve, Agile best practices in the group.  The Scrum Master works closely with other stakeholders in the development stream in order to ensure necessary standards, tools and best practices are adopted. The Technology department focuses on creating and maintaining functionality within all product offerings at Applied Systems.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Coach and mentor assigned Agile team, continually fostering an Agile culture
    • Facilitate team-level Agile ceremonies such as Daily Stand-ups, Retrospectives, and Iteration planning as a servant leader to the team
    • Support those that work outside the Agile team, such as the Product Owner and Functional Manager(s)
    • Collaborate with other Scrum Masters to develop and foster cross team communication
    • Assist Functional Management in coaching, training, and educating teams
    • Protect team from external interruptions to execution
    • Maintain a healthy interaction between individual team members and teams
    • Recognize conflict; facilitate conflict resolution through collaboration and consensus – elevate to management as needed
    • Track team impediments and escalate those that cannot be resolved within the team
    • Establish strong/healthy relationships with other product teams to promote collaboration


    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, or related technology field; or equivalent work experience
    • Knowledge of SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle) concepts; understanding of Agile or Waterfall methodologies a plus
    • Demonstrates high personal integrity and ability to earn trust and respect from others; ability to garner respect from team and be willing to get hands dirty to get the job done; energetic
    • Demonstrates a growth mind-set, seeks feedback often and is effective in continuous personal and professional development
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; high attention to detail
    • Effective facilitator, including conflict management abilities
    • Respectful, professional interpersonal style when working with diverse personality types (stakeholders, team members, management, etc.)
    • Collaborative in driving decisions and constructively resolving problems
    • Demonstrated aptitude for acquiring knowledge, skills, and new technologies
