    Job Summary
    Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a Business Analyst/Scrum Master to join our Quality Assurance team, which sets and maintains high standards for Applied’s software quality.  In this role, you will determine the technical objectives of each project you work on by liaising with and understanding the customer’s business needs via gathering information, evaluating, and documenting output requirements.  You will be relied upon to clearly communicate these requirements to Stakeholders, Product Management, Development, and Quality Assurance, clearly outlining the project’s milestones, phases, and elements.  You will also be responsible for the execution of all assigned quality functions during a project.  All of your efforts will help Applied to implement quality technology solutions in a cost-effective way.


    Additional responsibilities include:

    • Recommend design improvements by identifying business requirement problems and creating improved procedures
    • Monitor project progress by tracking activity, resolving problems, publishing progress reports, and recommending actions
    • Assist Product Management in validating resource requirements and developing cost estimate models
    • Interpret, evaluate, and interrelate research data and develop integrated business analyses and projections for incorporation into strategic technical decision-making
    • Perform daily, weekly and monthly reviews and analyses of current processes using operational metrics and reports
    • Track and communicate the financial and operational impact of any requested changes
    • Suggest changes to senior management using analytics to support your recommendations; actively participate in the implementation of approved changes
    • Develop and execute comprehensive End-to-End test cases at the application and multi-application levels to ensure application is developed and operates as intended
    • Assist other Quality Analysts on the teams with understanding functional requirements, creating functional test cases, etc.

     

    Requirements:

    • Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience
    • 3+ years of experience in the software industry, ideally in a BA and/or QA capacity; must display highly-developed business analytical experience and solid understanding of quality initiatives
    • Experience with Microsoft OS, including proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of applications
    • Understanding of Agile development methodology
    • Experience working with external customers    
    • Ability to take ownership of assigned tasks and provide concise, accurate project status updates
    • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, listening) and interpersonal skills
    • Experience writing technical documentation
    • Project and goal oriented with solid time management skills
    • Approachable, possess a positive attitude, and readily accepting of change
    • Preferred but not required:
      • Applied product experience and/or insurance industry experience (including understanding of insurance workflows and terminology)
      • AINS/AIS designation
