    Job Summary
    Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a Business Analyst – New Products responsible for ensuring project deliverables meet the business needs of our clients.  In this role, you will act as the primary contact between other project teams and clients, ensuring all requirements are satisfied throughout all phases of the project.  Through collaboration with developers, testers, and business partners, you will develop, document, maintain, and execute specifications and solutions.  The successful candidate will join the Canadian Rating – New Products team focusing on the development of new Canadian products and functionality which improve both the Canadian and global insurance industries.


    Additional responsibilities include:

    • Facilitate communication with clients to determine clear understanding of business problems that can be solved by technology solutions
    • Define and develop business and functional requirements for the approved scope items
    • Managing scope and status of user stories through Rally
    • Organize and arrange team planning and status meetings
    • Acceptance testing to ensure a high standard of quality that meets or exceeds the user’s expectations.
    • Demonstrating new products and features to clients, users, and other teams


    • Post-secondary education in business, computer science, technology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience
    • Solid understanding and proven experience in requirements definition and management techniques including business process, use case, work flow and swim lanes workflow diagrams
    • Strong attention to detail - the ability to analyze and communicate both business and technical requirements
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of Products
    • Demonstrated strong leadership skills
    • Ability to negotiate project requirements and appropriate solutions with clients
    • Excellent self-management skills
    • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
    • Ability to work well in a team environment
    • Strong follow through and organizational skills
    • A passion for meeting goals and deadlines
    • Strong ability to identify discrepancies between actual and expected results
    • Desired but not required:
      • Insurance/Broker related experience
      • Experience with the agile methodology
      • Experience planning, creating user stories, managing defects within Rally (CA Agile Central)
      • Experience on a Kan-Ban team
      • Experience managing scope, requirements, and team status via Rally (Agile Central)
      • Good knowledge of the Rating Services suite of products and related underwriting processes (asset) Bilingualism - English and French
