    Job Summary
    Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a Business Analyst – Carrier Products responsible for data analytics, model creation, and ad hoc reporting deliverables to meet the business needs of our clients.  In this role, you will join our Carrier Products team, which focuses on insurance carrier-facing applications and related functionality, as well as analytical applications to improve insight and insurance processes in Canada.  You will act as the primary contact between other project teams and clients, ensuring all requirements are satisfied throughout all phases of the project.  Through collaboration with developers, testers, and business partners, you will build, validate, maintain, and execute data reporting and transformation solutions. 

     

    Additional responsibilities include:

    • Generation, validation of monthly data reports
    • Responding to client inquiries relating to data
    • Ongoing improvements to performance, automation and validation of the data reports
    • Participate in change committee meetings  to identify product changes that impact data collection
    • Assist the new products team with development of data collection and transformations
    • May be called upon to do the occasional presentation to clients, and work associates

    Requirements:

    • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Technology, Math, or a related field; or equivalent work experience
    • Strong working knowledge of MS SQL
    • Experience using Excel, including Pivot Tables
    • Experience using Tableau or similar reporting tools
    • Machine Learning Experience. Coding in Python / R.  (asset)
    • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
    • Acute attention to detail - the ability to analyze and comprehend both business and technical requirements
    • A proven desire to dig beneath the surface to ensure validity of findings in data and report results
    • Excellent self-management skills
    • The ability to work well independently or on a small team
    • Strong follow-through and organizational skills
    • A passion for meeting goals and deadlines
    • Desired but not required:
      • Insurance / Broker related experience
      • Experience with the agile methodology
      • Experience planning, creating user stories, managing defects using CA Agile Central
      • Good knowledge of the Rating Services suite of products and related underwriting processes
      • Bilingualism - English and French
