    Job Summary

    Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a knowledgeable and talented Java Developer to join our IVANS Insurance Solutions Division.  In this role, you will work on a team that develops and supports products for our carriers and agencies using Java, C#, Groovy on Grails framework, REST, and SQL. You will be responsible for the new development, enhancements, and maintenance of our IVANS Real-Time software and web services.   Your efforts will ensure we deliver on our commitments to our customers and our industry through maintaining and developing innovative software solutions.


    Additional responsibilities include:

    • Research problems and various solutions, while devising a plan to solve these problems
    • Become a dedicated participant of your team
      • Collaborate with other members on the team to self-manage feature development to completion
      • Participate in reviews and testing of completed functionality
      • Participate in planning of future development tasks
    • Identify and communicate possible improvements in the work process for customers and peers
    • Coordinate with groups outside of Development including, but not limited to Support, Implementation, and Product Management



    • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience
    • 3+ years of experience in Java, and SQL. Experience with C#, Groovy on Grails, VB.Net, REST, SOAP, Eclipse and/or IntellJ a plus
    • Experience in SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL development
    • Ability to work with others in a team-oriented environment
    • Expert troubleshooting skills and research abilities
    • Excellent communication skills
