    Job Summary
    Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a Privacy & Compliance Specialist to join our growing Legal team.  In this role, you will work closely with our Senior Director of Information Security & Privacy, General Counsel, and Corporate Counsel members to support activities related to enterprise compliance.  This includes compliance activities related to  applicable privacy; information security; data use laws; liaising with internal business leaders regarding privacy issues; and other subject areas.  You will assist with research, policy development/management, education/training to employees, managing customer due diligence assessments/questionnaires, and creation/oversight of a third party vendor risk management program.  Your efforts will ensure success of the Legal team’s commitment to protect the assets, resources, and interests of Applied and all of its key stakeholders.


    Additional responsibilities include:

    • Create, manage, and complete privacy assessments, questionnaires, and data flow diagrams
    • Assist with the creation and administration of proposed data use cases and analysis of authorized use
    • Assist with evolving comprehensive enterprise-wide compliance program
    • Processing, responding to, and maintaining records related to customer due diligence assessments and questionnaires
    • Compliance record management, including working with privacy management software
    • Other projects and assignments (i.e. corporate record maintenance, merger and acquisitions support) as assigned

     

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
    • 2-4 years of experience in paralegal or similar role related to corporate governance, privacy compliance, and/or other compliance programs
      • Those with experience in corporate transactional roles (i.e. M&A, corporate law) with desire to transition to this kind of role will also be considered
    • Attention to detail and an ability to organize and multitask is a must
    • Able to understand and successfully navigate legal and business issues while maintaining positive relationships with peers, business units, clients, partners and vendors
    • Outstanding collaboration skills, communication skills, and proficiency with general office technology (PCs, MS Office Suite)
    • Demonstrates appropriate prioritization, timeliness, and responsiveness in connection with work assignments, urgent situations, and inquires (e.g., emails, phone calls, etc.)
    • Able to problem solve and work independently without close supervision
    • Helpful but not required:
      • IAPP Certification
      • Experience working with privacy management software (i.e. OneTrust)
      • Insurance and/or software industry experience
