    Job Summary
    Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a talented and passionate Web Application Developer to join a team creating innovative web applications and web services for the insurance industry.  In this role, you will act as the technical liaison and consultant for multiple insurance software product development teams.  Operating in an Agile environment, you will help design and maintain mapping software (Ruby on Rails, Angular.js), as well as build and scale backend services (Node.js, Ruby on Rails).  You will be relied up to expand APIs for the features, speed, and security of our Rating product, improving our clients’ satisfaction with overall product performance.

    Additional responsibilities:

    • Mentor junior Developers on OO principles, design patterns, and testing practices
    • Review code written by peers and supervisors, focusing on readability and efficiency
    • Participate in weekly stand-ups in an Agile environment with both local and remote employees
    • Integrate our servers with insurance carrier partner’s servers/APIs (both REST and SOAP) using node.js

    Requirements:

    • 2+ years of experience building web applications and web services using JavaScript, Ruby on Rails, SOAP, and RESTful APIs. Candidates with experience in ASP.Net, PHP, or Python will also be considered.
    • Experience in node.js or asynchronous programming. Experience with modern node.js frameworks a plus (Mocha, Express, Lodash, or Sequelize).
    • Experience with Angular.js a plus
    • Familiarity with API design and connecting to 3rd party APIs
    • Familiarity with web security methodologies (SSL authentication, TLS, HTTPS, cryptography, etc.)
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies, Kanban a plus
